Coming to Gripsholms Värdshus is a bit like coming home. In the past year, I myself have had 13 courses at the Inn, usually 3 days each time. Otherwise, I have lost count of how many times I have been there over 11 years. The inn is always my first choice because of the great service, the premises, the food and the surrounding environment in Mariefred. Gripsholms Värdshus also tickles my interest in history, both inside the establishment, in conversations with the owner family and the surrounding areas. My experience is that nothing is impossible to solve, the staff really fix EVERYTHING! In the summer, I often go to the Inn to have a coffee at their outdoor café.

Gripsholms Värdshus is located in the picturesque town of Mariefred in Sörmland, just 45 minutes from Stockholm. This historic inn is not only an eye-catcher with its magnificent views of Gripsholm Castle and Lake Mälaren, but also a place where guests can feel personalized attention in a historic atmosphere. Its central location makes it easy to reach from nearby cities like Södertälje and Strängnäs as well as Stockholm. Conferences at Gripsholms Värdshus are memorable and returning guests are not uncommon. They offer conference facilities in a picturesque small-town idyll that is perfect for business conferences. Whether for board meetings, festive corporate events or planning for the future, the facility has nine different conference rooms with capacity ranging from small meetings for 2 people to larger gatherings of up to 80 participants. For larger conferences, it is also possible to meet in the secluded Jugendhuset.

Why not combine the meeting with an exclusive cooking course in the training kitchen, where the Swedish National Culinary Team previously honed their culinary skills, or a guided tour of the royal Gripsholm Castle?

Overnight stay

Accommodation is part of the experience, and the inn has 46 rooms in different styles and categories. Guests can choose to stay in one of the Royal Suites or the personally decorated double rooms, family rooms or guest rooms with beautiful views of Lake Mälaren. The inn also includes Gripsholm Bed & Breakfast, which offers 23 rooms and can accommodate up to 50 guests, next to the royal Hjorthagen where the beauty of nature contributes to a perfect start to the day.

Dining room

As for the food, Gripsholms Värdshus offers two restaurants: a traditional dining room overlooking Lake Mälaren and the castle where guests can enjoy high-class cooking, and "Skänken" - a more relaxed bistro/pub. The food philosophy is based on the variety and diversity of Swedish cuisine, with a strong focus on ecology and an awareness of our food culture history. Working with local producers, the menu always reflects the season and its ingredients.
